Citizen of the Year Grove
On September 24, 2005, our Citizen of the Year
Grove was dedicated. All of but two of the
Citizens who received this honor who in
attendance.
Before the ceremony, award winners, family,
guests and dignitaries enjoyed a wonderful
buffet while a harpist played in the sunshine.
Ceremony
Members of the Boy and Girl Scouts entered
carrying our flag.
Mayor Joe Brown made opening remarks. Jerry
McCloskey gave a presentation on future plans
for the Niguel Botanical Preserve.
Each Citizen of the Year, starting with Carole
Bowman and Solevig Darner in 1990 and with
the 2004 winner, Elaine Gennawey, stood and
was recognized.
Each winner now has a tree with their name at
the base honoring their service to our City.
